Ultima Gstaad Welcomes Zuma’s World-Class Japanese Cuisine
It is with great anticipation and delight that we announce a groundbreaking culinary partnership between Ultima Collection and Zuma, the globally celebrated Japanese restaurant brand. This pioneering collaboration will debut the very first Zuma in Switzerland, bringing its inimitable blend of vibrant energy, artistry, and world-class cuisine to the Ultima Hotel Gstaad in December 2025.
Zuma’s Spirit, Ultima’s Soul

Founded by Chef Rainer Becker and Arjun Waney, Zuma draws inspiration from Japan’s informal yet soulful izakayas, delivering exquisite Japanese cuisine in destinations as captivating as Kitzbühel, St Tropez, Cannes, and Mykonos. Much like Ultima Collection’s villas, chalets, and hotels, every Zuma location is thoughtfully attuned to its surroundings, embodying the culture and energy of its setting.
Zuma and Ultima brands share a vision: to create spaces where people come together, where the setting is as unforgettable as the moments shared, and where hospitality transcends the expected.
“This collaboration symbolises far more than the meeting of two culinary worlds,” says Ultima Collection’s Executive Chef Alessandro Bergamo. “It is a shared journey of passion, innovation, and refinement – where every encounter, every flavour, and every detail is crafted to elevate the art of dining into a sensory voyage.”
An Immersive Alpine Encounter

At Ultima Hotel Gstaad, Zuma’s flagship Swiss outpost will transform the restaurant, bar, and winter terrace using the Japanese principle of Shakkei, “borrowed scenery”, harmoniously blending Alpine vistas with Zuma’s sleek, contemporary aesthetic. Whether enjoying signature dishes such as spicy beef with sesame, red chilli, and sweet soy, or nigiri sushi crafted by expert Zuma chefs, guests will savour an experience as authentic as it is extraordinary.
From après-ski cocktails like the Ozaka Spritz or Japanese Whiskey Sour, to in-room dining curated for intimate evenings, every element will be meticulously designed to indulge the senses.
